A fantastic five days of action concluded on Saturday at the 2011 Royal Ascot meeting. Given the quality of the Royal Ascot races, the meeting is one of the busiest weeks of the year for bookmakers. After plenty of rain on Friday, the going at Ascot was described as soft. Today's big race was the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes, won by 25/1 outsider Society Rock for trainer James Fanshawe.
There was also Group action in the Hardwicke Stakes won by Await The Dawn, the Listed Chesham Stakes won by Maybe, whilst the ultra competitive Wokingham handicap was won by Deacon Blues.
Yesterday's big race was the Group 1 Coronation Stakes, which went to France with Immortal Verse winning for trainer Rob Collet and ridden by Gerald Mosse.
Thursday's big race was the Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup won by the favourite Fame And Glory, trained by Aidan O'Brien. The Group 1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes was the highlight on Wednesday, Rewilding upsetting the odds by beating the strong favourite So You Think to land the race. Tuesday's highlight was the Queen Anne Stakes, where Canford Cliffs won his third consecutive race at Royal Ascot beating the the star filly Goldikova from France.
