The 2009 Royal Ascot starts on Tuesday 16th June and runs for five days until the 20th June. As always, this year's Royal Ascot meeting promises to be as exciting.
There are a total of 30 top class Royal Ascot races and with Seventeen Group Races, including seven Group one events, Royal Ascot makes for a fantastic week of top class racing action.
On each of the five days, there is at least one Group One race, the highlights of the opening day include the St James's Palace Stakes and the Queen Anne Stakes. The Prince of Wales Stakes and Royal Hunt Cup top the bill on day 2, while the Ascot Gold Cup takes centre stage for Ladies Day on Thursday.
Day four features the Coronation Stakes before the final day has three great spectacles in the Golden Jubilee Stakes, the Wokingham Stakes and the Queen Alexandra Stakes.
Royal Ascot betting is popular on all thirty races but some are much more popualr than others. For example, the large handicap races such as the Royal Hunt Cup and the Wokingham are popular due to the large fields and attractive betting odds about all the runners, whilst the Group races are popular due to the quality of the field, regardless of whether the favoruite is a short price or not. Also, each day, five of the races are broadcast live on the BBC and these will also be popular given that people can enjoy watching the race that they have placed their Royal Ascot bets on.
